The Chelsea Student Awards were set up in 2009, and provide a series of non-monetary prizes for graduate BA Fine Art Students from Chelsea College of Art.

Set up by then second year students and collaborating artists, Harry Major and Kiki Claxton, the Awards aim to reward students not based on government set learning outcomes, but on what art world professionals really think and in so doing aim to help ease the transition from Art Student to practising Artist in the big and scary 'real world'.

Based on the generosity of Art World professionals and the altruism of Claxton and Major the Awards have grown in size and strength. Each year the graduating students pass on the task of coordinating the prizes onto current third and second year students at Chelsea College of Art and Design, allowing the Awards to develop and due to provide even better rewards to even more graduate artists.
